In short: dress in layers, wear flat closed shoes and bring a hat or cap. It is cold before dawn and warms up quickly after sunrise. Avoid long loose scarves and anything you would hate to lose over the side of the basket.
Why layers matter
Your pickup is between 5:00 and 5:30 am. The desert plain outside Marrakech can be surprisingly cold at that hour — especially from November to March. After sunrise, the temperature rises fast. A warm layer you can take off is the perfect solution.
The checklist
- A warm top layer: fleece, sweater or light down jacket.
- Long trousers: comfortable, easy to move in.
- Flat closed shoes: trainers or walking shoes. You may land in a field.
- A hat or cap: useful against the cold at dawn and the sun after.
- Sunglasses: the sunrise can be dazzling.
- Your phone or camera with a wrist strap, fully charged.
What to avoid
- High heels, sandals or open shoes.
- Long loose scarves or flowing clothes.
- Large bags — keep only the essentials.
Photo tips
The best light happens in the first minutes after sunrise. Shoot towards the sun for silhouettes of the other balloons, and away from the sun for the golden light on the plain and the Atlas. Keep a firm grip on your phone — and enjoy a few minutes without a screen too.
After the flight
A Moroccan breakfast follows the landing on the Sunrise Flight, and you are back at your hotel around 9:30–10:30 am. See how the whole morning unfolds.
